Following the initial vegan boom back in 2018, London is now a melting pot of delicious and multi-flavoured vegan eateries. Whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian or just looking to curb your meat-eating, London has it all, from gourmet dining to comfort food and even vegan fast food. We’ve compiled a list of the best vegan restaurants delivering in London throughout the coronavirus lockdown. Bon appétit!
Temple of Seitan
Who said that vegans don’t like junk food? For your fast food fix, there is nowhere better to go than Temple of Seitan. Hailed as the world’s first vegan chicken shop, the first site in Hackney had impressive queues due to its groundbreaking deep-fried seitan, which is arguably one of the best meat substitutes. Temple of Seitan is a must-visit spot and undoubtedly the place that proves that vegan doesn’t mean boring. The Temple Spicy burger, Popcorn Bites and Mac ‘n Cheese are our not-so-guilty pleasures. Branches in Hackney and Camden. Delivery via UberEats. templeofseitan.co.uk
Ever since the vegetarian eatery first opened in Soho back in 1988, Mildred’s has become one of the most popular veggie spots in town, converting even the most loyal carnivores. We can’t fault the restaurant’s self proclaimed offering of “fresh and colourful food full of flavour”, with a standout menu packed with an impressive range of vegan options, many of which are also gluten-free. Branches in Soho, Camden, Kings Cross and Dalston. Delivery via Deliveroo. mildreds.co.uk
Black Cat Cafe
For delicious home-made vegan comfort food, head to the Black Cat in Clapton. The independent cafe has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and serves globally inspired dishes packed full of flavour in generous portion sizes. Black Cat’s ethical ethos shines throughout the restaurant, from its locally roasted coffee to the wonderful community feeling that sitting at communal tables brings. In addition, all food, cleaning products and materials are 100% plant-based and have not been tested on animals. It’s a yes from us.
